Preparing tomorrow’s civic-minded leaders

We believe that restoring civic health starts with making sure that tomorrow’s community and civic leaders are trusting, informed and able to connect with each other to solve problems.

As a public university, we have a unique opportunity to help our students cultivate the tools to engage in dialogue, disagreement and collaboration with people who hold many perspectives, experiences and beliefs. Currently, UW students have many opportunities to build communication, collaboration and critical thinking skills in the classroom and beyond, but we want to scale up those opportunities so they’re available and affordable for all students. By making civic education and engagement available to all students, we will prepare tomorrow’s civic-minded community members and leaders to work across differences and build connected, responsive societies.
